Yard Sale

Saturday
Salty skin, crumpled bills and the jangle of coins
Men and women
Sometimes a child
Picking up and putting down
Shirts and too-small blue jeans
Books and hats
Knick-knacks and old mis-matched dishes
Bargaining a dollar down to 50 cents
What's it worth to you?
And is it late in the day?
One's trash; another's treasure
Not really
Or it would have long gone the way
Of the trash truck

It's almost Mother's Day... My babies are happy to oblige me...cheese!!

What a Ham!!!

My biggest kitchen disappointment ……… nothing lately, but I am still disappointed about the marmalade that I cooked into a HARD jar FULL of orange candy.
I’ve learned this from disappointment ….. Just because things don't go the way I had hopped, it's not the end of the world.
What I hope my children can learn from disappointment ….. That they don't lose hope because of it, and that they don't let it control their mind and heart.
Disappointment with people ….. gives us reason to practice forgiveness. We must see it as a gift from God.
The Bible speaks about disappointment a lot. Here are some verses that give us comfort and strength in the face of disappointment. Choose one and tell how that verse can help you overcome disappointment……
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partialityColossians 3:23-25
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 1 John 5:13-14

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
 Romans 8:28
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Philippians 4:6-7
I have to chose the last one, Philippians 4:6-7. Do not be anxious about anything. That is so hard for me sometimes. Especially in the middle of the night when the house is quiet and the children are asleep and I am not busy doing. It is then that my mind wanders and I start to worry. I need to remind myself of the rest of the scripture, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ. At those times I pray and I rebuke those doubts and worried thoughts. I ask God to calm my spirit and renew my faith.
